POSITION OVERVIEW
K-Star is seeking an intelligent and driven portfolio analyst who thrives in a fast-paced environment, to join the Securities Asset Management team. The analyst will participate in oversight, reporting, and asset management activities within K-Star’s growing Special Servicing asset management / servicing business. Additionally, they will be responsible for evaluating performing loan borrower requests that require Lender consent, such as leases, reserve disbursements, property management changes, etc. The successful candidate must be capable of performing tasks related to credit monitoring, servicing and loan workouts. They will also be expected to participate in ad hoc special assignments to facilitate the growth of the platform. Additionally, they must be an exceptional communicator with a focus on stellar process execution through attention to detail and effective time management skills. They must have the ability to build strong partnerships across the various lines of business at both K-Star and KKR, including real estate credit, investment, legal, finance, technology and asset management teams.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Engage in a holistic review of commercial mortgage loans, including property operations, market factors, financial analysis and loan document review, and present fact-supported recommendations relating to performing loan requests for Lender’s approval
- Support Asset Managers in the servicing, management and resolution of distressed loans, including underwriting potential outcomes, communicating with internal and external parties and ensuring compliance and enforcement of loan document terms and covenants
- Collaborate with senior team members and legal counsel as needed to identify and mitigate risks associated with Borrower requests and loan resolution strategies
- Contribute to the fulfilment of K-Star’s asset management responsibilities, including but not limited to servicing, reporting, legal, operational, valuation and compliance activities
- Analyze and share observations regarding asset/portfolio performance with portfolio analytics team for evaluation against underwritten assumptions
- Work closely with investment team as needed to provide intelligence and analysis in connection with potential new investments
- Assist with the delivery of information for monthly Investor reports and Investor inquiries
- Implement and/or enhance established work-streams with the objective of ensuring optimal portfolio results and operational efficiency
- Participate in special projects as needed to implement and maximize new technologies to support K-Star’s platform
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a Business, Finance, or Real Estate-related course of study
- 1- 3 years of experience in commercial real estate finance or servicing
- Fundamental knowledge of commercial real estate, fixed income, and general lending and financial concepts
- Superior analytical and financial modeling skills
- High proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook; Argus a plus
- Excellent organizational and communication skills, both verbal and written
- Exceptional attention to detail and thoroughness is a must
- Team Player with collaborative and strong relationship building skills, and with the ability to work independently and in a way that reflects the company’s culture and core values
- Skilled at developing and maintaining personal, social and business relationships representing KKR in a professional manner
