Bloomberg News is one of the biggest financial and business news organizations in the world. We lead the way in breaking news and providing analysis on financial markets, from intraday coverage through in-depth features. We are known for our quality, accuracy and ability to deliver news investors can use. It's what keeps us inventing and re-inventing, all the time.

From GDP and inflation to central bank policy and employment figures, Bloomberg’s economic coverage helps investors, policymakers and business leaders understand what’s happening, and what’s next.

We’re now seeking an Economic Data News Editor in Tokyo to play a central role in our real-time reporting on Japan and the wider Asia-Pacific economy. This is a unique opportunity that combines journalism, economics and technology. You’ll join the Asia-Pacific Economic Data News team, which covers the region’s key indicators — the numbers that move global markets.

As an editor, you’ll publish and explain data within seconds of release, survey economists to build forecasts and find better ways to turn complex information into clear, useful insights for Bloomberg clients and readers around the world.

Whether you’re a journalist developing data skills, a data professional who wants to work closer to news or a product specialist interested in how information reaches users — this role offers a chance to make a direct impact in one of Bloomberg’s most visible functions. You’ll also work at the cutting edge of how AI and automation are transforming real-time news coverage.

Here, your ideas can shape how millions of people around the world understand Japan’s economy — and your career can evolve across disciplines as quickly as the markets we cover.

Bloomberg is a strong early-career employer because the company runs large internship intake across multiple departments and backs this with clear student-facing process guidance in technical hiring. Bloomberg also invests in structured training in several early-career pathways and offers standout benefits, but pay-range transparency is inconsistent across roles and outcomes data (conversion rates, retention, time-to-promotion) is not published.
