Your Team Responsibilities
The MSCI Private Assets – Private Capital solution team is responsible for the development and maintenance of the Total Plan product. Total Plan is a comprehensive solution designed to help CIOs and investment managers aggregate and analyze unstructured and opaque data from public and private markets.
The application layer of Total Plan is built on modern engineering principles, leveraging cloud-native architectures, APIs, microservices, and full-stack development practices. Our team collaborates closely with Data Engineering, Database Engineering, and Infrastructure teams to deliver a scalable, resilient, and secure platform that powers Private Capital analytics.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Develop and enhance C# .NET 8 applications forming the foundation of the Total Plan platform.
- Collaborate with Product, Data, and Database teams to deliver secure, scalable, and maintainable solutions.
- Apply software design patterns, OOP principles, and SOLID practices to ensure clean and extensible code.
- Build REST APIs, microservices, and event-driven components.
- Work on front-end frameworks (React or Angular) for building interactive and responsive UIs.
- Integrate with SQL Server 2022 databases, optimizing queries and interactions with backend APIs.
- Develop and deploy applications in containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes), with production deployment on Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE).
- Implement asynchronous messaging and streaming solutions using Google Cloud Pub/Sub.
- Contribute to CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps, including automated testing, security scanning, and deployment orchestration.
- Use AI-driven tools and prompt engineering to accelerate coding, testing, and documentation.
- Work closely with Index Research to automate index calculation algorithms for current and upcoming methodologies.
- Proactively identify opportunities to improve processes, stability, and system performance.
Your skills and experience that will help you excel
- Strong expertise in C# .NET 8, data structures, concurrency, and multithreading.
- Proficiency with Entity Framework Core and ORM best practices.
- Experience with REST APIs, gRPC, and/or GraphQL service design.
- Exposure to SQL Server 2022 (query optimization, schema design) and understanding of DB-to-application performance.
- Knowledge of front-end frameworks (React, Angular) and modern web development standards.
- Experience with containers (Docker) and Kubernetes orchestration (GKE).
- Hands-on experience with GCP Pub/Sub or other messaging/event systems.
- Familiarity with Azure DevOps pipelines for automated CI/CD workflows.
- Hands-on with AI-driven development tools, MCP server, prompt engineering.
- Familiarity with application performance monitoring and telemetry tools (Sentry, Datadog, or similar APM systems).
- Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.
- Excellent communication skills to articulate solutions clearly to business stakeholders.
Specific Knowledge & Skills
- Deep knowledge of C#/.NET 8, LINQ, generics, attributes, reflection, and IoC containers (Autofac/Unity).
- Experience with low-latency, high-throughput systems.
- Understanding of query optimization, SQL Server monitoring tools, and columnstore storage.
- Expertise in software design patterns, microservices architecture, and event-driven design.
- Cloud-native experience with Google Cloud Platform (GKE, Pub/Sub, Cloud SQL) and Azure DevOps.
- Practical exposure to caching frameworks (Redis, in-memory caching).
- Strong knowledge of system performance tuning, scalability strategies, and observability practices.
- Familiarity with unit testing (xUnit/NUnit), mocking frameworks (Moq), and integration testing.
- Knowledge of security standards (OAuth2, OpenID Connect, JWT, API security best practices).
- Ability to handle production support in demanding environments, including off-hours coverage if required.
