This is a 6 months full-time onsite role based in Singapore as part of the GRIT Programme.
As part of the Regional Business Finance team, the trainee will support finance initiatives that enable scalable and accurate financial reporting across Grab's business.
The Critical Tasks You Will Perform
- Support the development of Grab's Finance AI (GAI) project by building up the knowledge base of comprehensive accounting treatments for existing products—including journal entries, financial dimensions, and rationale—to drive greater standardization and enable future automation.
- Assist in evaluating new product launches and business initiatives, working alongside experienced finance professionals to determine appropriate accounting logic and treatment in line with financial governance and business needs.
- Collaborate with cross-functional peers across the finance organization—including Tax, Billing, and Controllership—to ensure end-to-end readiness for product launches and system changes, while aligning operational execution with finance processes and controls.
- Contribute to the enhancement of finance processes and documentation, with a focus on improving clarity, efficiency, and scalability to support Grab's fast-evolving business environment.
Technical Skills and Competencies Trainee will learn during the traineeship:
- Product-Linked Accounting Design: Understand how business models translate into journal entries, financial structures, and reporting frameworks—with a strong emphasis on applying accounting knowledge to real-life business scenarios.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Develop the ability to work across internal finance domains (e.g., Tax, Billing, Controllership) to support end-to-end execution and problem-solving.
- Knowledge Management: Contribute to structured finance documentation that enhances team clarity, supports onboarding, and enables future automation and AI use cases.

- Process Optimization: Gain insight into how scalable, efficient, and compliant finance processes are designed and continuously improved to meet the demands of a fast-paced business.
What Essential Skills You Will Need
Must-Have:
- Strong foundation in accounting principles
- Ability to understand and apply accounting logic to real-world business scenarios, including journal entries, GL mapping, and financial processes.
Good-to-Have:
- Effective communication skills
- Comfortable collaborating with cross-functional peers and articulating finance concepts clearly to both finance and non-finance teams.
- Basic coding or data handling skills
- Familiarity with tools like SQL, Python, or Excel automation (e.g., macros, Power Query) to support structured documentation and enable future process automation.
- Creative problem-solving mindset
- Ability to think critically, propose improvements, and adapt in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
- Documentation and knowledge management
- Attention to detail and clarity in documenting accounting treatments and finance logic to contribute to a scalable internal knowledge base.
