We are looking for a highly motivated, talented individual to join our Sustainable Materials analyst team to undertake research and data analysis on the carbon capture and storage sector. You will be based in our Beijing/ Shanghai office and working as part of a global research team at BNEF – the world's leading independent provider of analysis, tools, data and research to decision makers leading the transition to a low-carbon economy. Our data-driven research helps clients stay on top of developments across the materials, automotive and energy industries, supported by the unique depth and breadth of the Bloomberg Terminal and bnef.com platforms.
We'll trust you to:
- Conduct research and track company and government activities and projects that look to deploy carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS) to reduce emissions
- Gather and organize data sets pertaining to project announcements, partnerships, technology supply agreements, financing arrangements and other aspects that are critical for clients to assess project feasibility
- Collaborate with other colleagues from across BNEF and Bloomberg to create well-structured and organized databases that are then visualized and made available as tools, databases and other publications for clients to understand the growth of the sector and identify opportunities
- Liaise with companies, industry bodies and government entities to achieve the highest quality of data for the various tools and publications
- Identify and work with third-party data providers and vendors to improve the completeness and accuracy of BNEF’s data products within the Sustainable Materials team
- Address client questions in a timely manner and present the insights and trends to clients and prospective clients at internal and external events and conferences
You'll need to have:
- Demonstrated interest and enthusiasm for the carbon capture and storage sector
- Excellent critical thinking and strong quantitative skills
- Proficiency in English and Mandarin, and good communication skills: writing (for research projects and databases in English) and speaking (for presentations)
- Excellent working knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word and PowerPoint)
- Ability to derive information from public sources and in person / telephone interviews
- Ability to act as a self-starter, have a high work rate and work on parallel tasks with attention to detail
- A collaborative attitude and ability to work closely with other teams at BNEF, including our Data, Hydrogen, Oil and Metals teams
We'd love to see:
- Graduate degree in sciences, engineering or data sciences
- Knowledge of SQL and Python
- Experience in analyzing the energy, industry or carbon capture sectors
