Zappos.com is seeking an exceptional Web Development Engineer to drive the vision, development, and optimization of our digital shopping experience across web and mobile platforms, including but not limited to the homepage, lookbooks, online catalogs, boutiques, promotions, and all other content pages. This role is critical to helping Zappos drive revenue growth through front end innovation and deliver a best-in-class customer website and app experience. This position in the Marketing department and works closely with Designers, Merchandisers, Creative, UX, and Software Developers. This role is a great opportunity for someone who has web/app production experience and can consistently meet deadlines and goals. This individual must also have the desire to exceed business objectives and take on more responsibility. The successful candidate will have exceptional communication skills and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.



Key job responsibilities


- Build and schedule content across all Zappos digital properties with high accuracy and output
- Manage marketable real estate including cards, PDPs, PLPs, and homepage content
- Lead project management for major campaigns including Holiday Gift Guides, seasonal trends, and cultural moments
- Drive testing strategy, execution, and analysis to optimize site performance
- Collaborate with Tech, Marketing, Creative, CRM, and UX teams on WebLabs experiments
- Ensure all campaign elements (Copy, Design, Merchandising, Translations) are approved and finalized
- Support company-wide initiatives in international markets and sustainability
- Daily management and quality control of content on file system
- Creation of reusable templates for new web pages
- Implementing time-sensitive editorial concepts
- Contribute to the process of UX design, to ensure that content is appropriately structured to meet the goals for the site and supported platforms
- Specify the multimedia content needed to support or work alongside textual content
- Locate and select appropriate, existing multimedia content, including still images, animations, music and video
- Use metadata and other methods to optimize search engine positions
- Maintain menus, indexes, and directories within the site
- Ability to do competitor analysis
- Archive and backup content (where this is not automatic)
- Partner with IT developers to overcome technical challenges and create new functionality for editorial content
- Collaborate with Design, Merchandising, Marketing, IT, and Buying departments to create daily content
- Thorough testing relevant browsers and mobile experience
- Be able to build and schedule translated content

Basic Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree, or BS degree
- • Proven track record of autonomous decision-making and establishing best practices
- • Outstanding attention to detail and project management skills
- • Strong analytical capabilities for test design and results interpretation
- • Excellent cross-functional communication and relationship-building abilities
- • Customer-obsessed mindset with focus on creating enjoyable, easy, and personal shopping experiences
- • Experience with content management systems and digital marketing tools
- • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple high-priority projects simultaneously
- • Minimum of 2-3 years of UI development experience Bachelors’ degree Eye for design, with basic knowledge of typography Working knowledge of HTML/HTML5, CSS/CSS3, REACT Knowledge of Mobile Device CSS styling Experience with web content management application(s)
- • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, 40-hour work week, with availability on weekends

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience with responsive design, as well as cross-browser development and testing
- Knowledge of Media Queries
