Amazon Data Services India Private Limited is looking for a Rack Decommissioning Data Technician to join our growing team in India. The Decommissioning Technical team is responsible for processing and facilitating large scale legacy Data Center equipment through a liquidation process to ensure that targeted equipment is ready to be removed from our facilities in India. Team members will also process large volumes of media containing customer data to ensure that all customer data is sanitized and protected.

You will work in a team environment collaborating with other teams, which requires strong communication skills. Amazon Data Centers treat customer data with the utmost importance; selected candidates must be able to perform repetitive tasks without variance and adhere to strict Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) that ensure customer data is protected and handled properly.

Key job responsibilities

* Processing legacy hardware out of the data center facilities in India

* Moving large enterprise equipment

* Lift up to 49lbs and participate in team lifts of 50+ lbs

* Hard drive removal and destruction

* Creating/attaching labels and barcodes

* Updating progress through a web ticketing systems

* Documenting procedures

* Escalating concerns to senior technicians and managers as needed/required

* Work with basic PC components and hardware like:

1. HDD/SSD/Flash/Removable storage media

2. USB/FireWire/Esata

A day in the life

You will work on decommission of data center infrastructure including racks, servers, and networking equipment following established SOPs as per workflow and ticket-based environment. Perform hardware operations such as rack installation, migration and systematic problem resolution. Maintain site organisation and cleanliness while demonstrating strong troubleshooting abilities. Physical requirements include lifting and racking equipment up to 20kg, potentially working in confined spaces or elevated locations. Basic Qualifications

- 2+ years of computer hardware troubleshooting and repair experience
- Bachelor's degree in information technology or computer science
- Knowledge of IT system hardware and network concepts

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience dealing effectively with customers during problem resolution and operating efficiently under pressure
- Experience with computer hardware troubleshooting and repair
- Knowledge of server hardware and components
