We are seeking an experienced Network Development Engineer to join a highly skilled team that designs and automates the and growth of next generation networking products deployed to AWS Datacenters globally.



AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we’re the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. Key job responsibilities
As a Network Development Engineer working within AWS Infrastructure you will:



- Be responsible for deploying network infrastructure across all of our network fabrics that supports the Amazon Retail Service and AWS services.
- Deploy, scale and automate our network across many global data centers. This includes existing footprints and new locations.
- Identify opportunities and develop tooling and to increase scaling velocity and quality.
- Create simple, repeatable processes, and improve upon existing processes.
- Work closely with our internal customers on designs/solutions; bringing those designs/solutions from concept to production.
- Create and update our network standards and ensure that the network is deployed to these standards.
- Work closely with our teams in defining the platforms and frameworks that allow us to scale at unprecedented volume.

Our ideal candidate is highly autonomous, possesses strong written and verbal communication skills, strong project management and time management skills and has a successful track record of designing simple, scalable solutions and troubleshooting complex network problems and delivering innovative solutions. The desire and ability to work in a fast paced, collaborative environment is essential.


Basic Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree
- Knowledge of IP networking fundamentals and extensive experience in the application of IP protocols
- Knowledge of network analysis fundamentals and robust troubleshooting
- Experience in major internet routing protocols, specifically BGP and OSPF
- Experience with network operating systems such as Cisco IOS and Junos
- Experience working in a Linux/Unix environment

Preferred Qualifications

- Knowledge of IT best practice frameworks (ITIL, COBIT) and operational excellence concepts or methodologies
- Knowledge of network hardware and packet forwarding architectures
- Experience with Unix and scripting in Perl, shell, C or C++
- Experience working with customers to diagnose a problem and work towards resolution
