Job Description:
In order to support Advanced Studies team, Airbus Defence and Space is looking for a
Master student (d/f/m): Applied Concurrent Engineering & MBSE for Space Cloud Advanced Studies
You are looking for a master thesis and want to get to know the work of an aerospace engineer (d/f/m)? Then apply now! We look forward to you supporting us in the Advanced Systems department as a master student (d/f/m)!
- Location: Immenstaad/Friedrichshafen
- Start: as soon as possible
- Duration: 6 months
Topic
The aim of this Master's thesis is to apply Concurrent Engineering and Model-Based Systems Engineering methodologies in the early phase of a space project related to a future Space Cloud Computing mission. The foreseen tools to be used include IDM-CIC, Capella, and related toolboxes. This activity is also intended to support project engineers in system analyses by conducting necessary trade-off analyses, and generating e.g. budget reference files. The concrete Space Computing infrastructure mission concept will be selected during the use case evaluation phase prior to the start of this thesis. For a student, this presents an opportunity to experience a realistic working environment by actively contributing to the project activity.
Your Tasks and responsibilities
- Get familiar with Concurrent Engineering & Model-Based Systems Engineering tools and the project itself.
- Set up a suitable tools ecosystem to contribute to the project and maximize the benefit of available tools.
- Support the project team with Phase A design, trade-off analyses, and elaborate project documentation within the used tools, considering ECSS standards.
- Propose suitable practices for the usage of the tools in order to improve efficiency.
- Create material to facilitate new users in speeding up the learning process with the tools.
Desired Skills and Qualifications
- Full-time student (d/f/m) enrolled in Aerospace Engineering or a similar Engineering/Physics field of study.
- Willingness to learn to work with new tools and explore diverse engineering domains/topics (e.g., system design, mission design, thermal, mechanical, MBSE, etc.).
- Good knowledge of engineering tools such as MATLAB, Scilab, Python, and/or other software.
- Structured approach to work.
