Join our dynamic Napier team as a Graduate Planner, where you’ll deliver high-quality planning consultancy services to internal and external clients, contributing to the success of the wider Environment group and supporting WSP’s broader objectives. You’ll be part of a collaborative planning team, gaining hands-on experience while learning from industry experts, developing new skills, and growing your career in a supportive and inclusive environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with project planning by preparing and processing resource consent applications, assessments of environmental effects, and related documentation.
- Support project managers in scoping, delivering, and verifying project activities.
- Interpret technical drawings and reports for planning and resource management applications.
- Deliver technical advice on planning, policy development, and resource management to colleagues and clients.
- Apply knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Resource Management Act and Local Government Act.
- Contribute to research, feasibility studies, and reporting for client presentations.
- Present evidence and advice at local authority hearings as required.
- Promote best practice and contribute technical skills (e.g., ecology) to projects.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of technical standards, legislation, and codes of practice.
- Ensure excellent client service and clear communication to foster trusted relationships and repeat business.
- Comply with safety, health, environment, and quality (SHEQ) obligations and company policies.
- Pursue professional development and maintain relevant registrations or licenses.
About You:
- Bachelor’s degree in Resource and Environmental Planning or Urban Planning, or a similar qualification recognised by the New Zealand Planning Institute (NZPI).
- Strong teamwork, communication, and organisational skills.
- Client-centric approach and high professional integrity.
- Current, clean driver’s license.
