Description

Amazon is seeking a high-judgment, self-motivated, and creative communications professional to join our Field Communications Team.

As a Regional PR Coordinator, you will help manage proactive, positive, earned, external storytelling for Amazon at the hyperlocal level, supporting the Northeast US region. This role mines for potential stories and helps other teams amplify their news locally. The PR Coordinator also helps earn media coverage across all Amazon’s reputational and business areas.

The ideal candidate is based in Connecticut with an ability to travel regularly to other Amazon sites across their region/media markets. You must have the ability to establish relationships, with local reporters, content creators, stakeholders, and community leaders. Internally, you will work cross functionally with other communications, public policy, economic development, business teams and operations employees to craft compelling stories for external audiences.

To be successful in this role you will need excellent communications skills, writing ability, initiative, and a strong ability to collaborate. You should have experience delivering results with high standards under tight deadlines and be comfortable and confident learning to be an on-the-record and on-camera spokesperson. The person in this role is one of the faces of Amazon in the Northeast US. Creativity and flexibility are a must, as you will be asked to jump in on projects when and where needed.

Key job responsibilities

• Support the development and management of external earned storytelling in cities with Amazon sites, such as high-visibility operations and corporate building milestone events, community donations with local elected officials, news media facility tours, and other media relations activities. You will support strategies to secure positive coverage, build Amazon's reputation, and amplify content.

• Collaborate with communications teams across Amazon to support their local news announcements

• Develop and write news releases, media advisories, reporter and content creator (such as podcasters and influencers) pitches, fact sheets, spokesperson talking points, social media copy, and related media materials

• Support the management of time-sensitive and unexpected communications challenges, providing communications support to internal stakeholders for both short- and long-term opportunities

• Build and maintain relationships with key traditional and non-traditional media members including social media influencers, podcasters, and bloggers

• Work collaboratively with multi-stakeholder teams across communications, public policy, operations, and business functions

About the company

Amazon

Company overview
Amazon runs a wide set of consumer and enterprise businesses, including online retail, Prime Video and other subscription services, advertising, devices, and Amazon Web Services (AWS). Amazon also builds large-scale software and infrastructure for logistics, payments, and cloud computing, and hires across engineering, product, operations, corporate functions, and frontline roles. Amazon’s early-career hiring spans both office-based teams and operational sites, which means “entry-level” can look very different depending on the org.

Locations and presence

Amazon has major corporate hubs in Seattle and Arlington (HQ2) plus large engineering and operations sites across North America, EMEA, and Asia-Pacific. For many corporate roles, Amazon’s stated expectation has shifted to five days per week in-office for office-based employees (with exceptions depending on role and site).

Palpable Score

76.7
/ 100
Amazon is one of the most accessible early-career employers at scale, with recurring internships and graduate hiring across many disciplines and geographies. Amazon also provides unusually clear public information about interview mechanics and publishes pay ranges on a large share of roles, which supports informed decision-making. The biggest drag on outcomes is the combination of high-performance culture signals and recent corporate job cuts, which adds risk for early-career stability depending on team and org.
