This role: As a Cost Engineering Co-op, you’ll play a critical role in shaping the success of our brand by driving initiatives that balance innovation, performance, and affordability. You’ll operate at the intersection of design, manufacturing, and value—delivering creative, cost-conscious solutions that maintain the high standards our consumers expect. You’ll gain invaluable experience supporting real-time product development, analyzing cost drivers, and influencing design decisions, all while collaborating with cross-functional teams across Advanced Development, New Product Development, and New Product Introduction. You’ll also gain a behind-the-scenes look at how cost impacts every stage of the product lifecycle—from prototype to shelf—giving you a holistic view of what it takes to bring world-class products to market.

Here are some of the EXCITING things you’ll get to do:
- Support the coordination of product details to help generate independent product cost estimates that inform real business decisions
- Assist in building "should-cost" models based on product requirements, materials, and manufacturing methods
- Dive into costed Bills of Materials (BOMs) and large datasets to uncover key cost drivers and savings opportunities
- Summarize findings through clear, actionable reports that influence design and sourcing strategies
- Collaborate with the supply chain team on critical components to understand supplier pricing and cost structures
- Apply design, engineering, and manufacturing knowledge to propose innovative, cost-saving ideas that maintain product intent
- Partner with cross-functional teams—including Engineering, Sourcing, and Product Development—to support costing and development activities
- Participate in product reviews and focused “Hack” sessions to brainstorm cost optimization opportunities
- Tear down, debug, and analyze electro-mechanical products to understand how every component contributes to performance and cost
- Contribute to value-engineering initiatives that balance innovation, performance, and affordability
- Gain real-world exposure to the full product development cycle, from concept to launch

ATTRIBUTES & SKILLS:
- Education: Current student in their third year or beyond of a bachelor's program, or currently enrolled in a master’s program
- Must be able to work a full-time, 40-hour-per-week schedule with 5 days per week onsite in Needham, MA
- Demonstrates strong analytical and organizational skills, with sharp attention to detail and a relentless drive to uncover smart, low-cost solutions
- Self-motivated and confident working independently while staying connected to a collaborative, fast-paced team environment
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel with the ability to manipulate and analyze large data sets
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes, especially plastics, sheet metal, and common assembly methods
- Experience with 3D CAD tools such as CREO and/or SolidWorks
- Skilled in creating and delivering clear, impactful presentations that summarize insights and recommendations
