Job Description

AECOM is hosting an exclusive, invitation-only hiring event in New York, New York October 15-17. This is a great opportunity to learn and connect with AECOM for career opportunities starting Spring/Summer 2026.

The event kicks off on Wednesday evening with a networking mixer from 6-8 pm , where you can hear from AECOM staff about various projects, career paths, and the company itself. You’ll also have the chance to meet other students, recent graduates, and AECOM professionals from across our business lines.

On Thursday and Friday, interviews will take place at our New York office. This is a fantastic opportunity to learn about and connect with AECOM for early career opportunities.

AECOM is actively seeking an Environmental Science Interns to be based in New York or New Jersey office.

The Science Intern will support our EPP team in both the field and office. We are seeking a motivated candidate who would like to develop and advance in a full-time environmental career.

With world-class technical expertise, leading-edge technology, and innovative project delivery capability around the world, AECOM’s global environmental practice helps industry and government meet their business goals – to achieve compliance, reduce or eliminate risks and manage impacts. We provide advisory and technical services to help clients clean up and close contaminated sites and surplus operational facilities and restore them for reuse, plan and permit new facilities, address critical climate change issues, restore habitats and water quality, protect natural and cultural resources, maintain compliance, and cost-effectively manage residuals and wastes.

Internships at AECOM offer students in undergraduate and graduate programs the opportunity to gain valuable hands-on experience in engineering design, and infrastructure projects that make a real-world impact. Interns work with cutting-edge technology, learn industry’s best practices, and collaborate with experienced professionals in a globally recognized firm. The program fosters both technical and professional skill development while providing networking opportunities that can enhance future career prospects. Additionally, AECOM’s dedication to innovation and sustainability enables interns to contribute to meaningful projects that help shape communities and the built environment.

This position is expected to begin Spring/Summer 2026

Company overview

Locations and presence

AECOM is headquartered in Dallas and operates offices and project sites across the Americas, EMEA, and Asia-Pacific. AECOM promotes flexible and hybrid working under the “Freedom to Grow” approach, but many roles still blend office time with project-site work depending on discipline.

Palpable Score

73
/ 100
AECOM offers consistent early-career entry routes through internships and graduate programmes, plus a visible flow of entry-level roles across many disciplines and locations. AECOM also publishes clear hiring steps and salary ranges on many early-career U.S. postings, which helps candidates make informed choices. The score is capped by mixed public outcome signals around workload and early-career churn, and by the absence of published cohort metrics like conversion rates, promotion timelines, or retention by intake.
