We are the Environment & Planning Division of ICF. We provide expertise in environmental compliance for the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), Endangered Species Act (ESA), and other special purpose environmental regulations. We prepare Environmental Impact Reports (EIRs), Initial Studies/Mitigated Negative Declarations (IS/MNDs), Environmental Impact Statements (EISs), Environmental Assessments (EAs), and Habitat Conservation Plans (HCPs) for complex and often controversial projects nationwide and abroad, including land use, energy, transportation, and water projects. We manage environmental review processes that include consultation with local and regulatory agencies; public involvement; and analysis of topics such as air quality, climate change, noise, cultural and historic resources, socioeconomics, and environmental justice. Our clients include numerous federal, state, and local agencies as well as private companies. Our staff work on the most current and important issues facing the nation including renewable energy development, disaster recovery, and management of land use, water, transportation, and other resources.

A 2026 Summer Intern, Environmental Planner will support project teams and work on multiple projects, interact with all levels of staff, and apply their academic and any past work experience to a wide variety of complex projects. You will support and potentially collaborate with clients and senior staff, as well as internal and external experts and stakeholders. Interns will be responsible for assisting with and completing project tasks related to the development and delivery of accurate, timely, and high-quality products and services.

This is an entry-level, 10-week, full time internship that begins in early June 2026. Work will be remote from the United States. Pay is expected to be $28 per hour. At this time, relocation nor housing assistance is available for this position.

Palpable Score

74
/ 100
ICF offers real entry points through internships, early-career roles, and structured early-talent programs, and the company backs that up with visible learning infrastructure and benefits. Hiring transparency is reasonable thanks to publicly described interview patterns and candidate policies, but consistent, role-by-role clarity on process and feedback is harder to verify. Early-career outcomes look positive in parts, yet the company does not publish clear early-talent progression or conversion metrics, which caps the score.
