Role:
As a Quality Engineer , your role involves serving as a technical liaison between production operations, engineering, suppliers, and supplier quality. You will be responsible for problem-solving both internal and customer-driven issues. Work will include working on the Manufacturing Floor to support Operations and in an office environment.
What You’ll Do: Major Duties and Responsibilities
- Follow and enforce all Site Safety Guidelines.
- Interact with production and engineering on issues and containments.
- Interact with Team Leaders and Group Leaders to solve problems
- Audit elements of the GM Quality Manual and GMS Built-In Quality Statements.
- Review and approve Standardized Work for the assigned department, ensuring compliance with Tonawanda Quality Standards.
- Drive problem-solving and lead resolution for supplier, internal, and customer quality issues.
- Ensure effective containment and resolution for identified non-conforming products.
- Communicate emerging issues.
- Support the PTR Process by running PTRs and evaluating their impact on the product/function.
- Review and approve Plant Floor Change Management Requests for the assigned department.
- Support department scrap reduction initiatives.
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
- Minimum of Internship in Manufacturing or Internship in Engineering discipline
- Strong critical thinking and analytical skills.
- Ability to work / rotate through all 3 shifts (1st, 2nd & 3rd).
- Ability to work over-time, weekends, holidays, etc. as needed
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- High level of integrity, with the ability to deal with ambiguity and work independently.
What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent experience
- 2+ years of experience in Quality and/or Manufacturing environment
- Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills to effectively collaborate with various levels of the organization.
- Ability to solve difficult and complex problems by identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
- Willingness to ask questions, take initiative, and be resourceful.
- Knowledge of GMS principles and practices.
