Responsibilities
- Assist in optomechanical design
- Support the development of components such as lens mounts, optical benches, and alignment fixtures using CAD tools like SolidWorks or Creo.
- Prototype and test assemblies: Help build and evaluate prototypes, ensuring mechanical stability and optical performance.
- Perform system integration: Collaborate with optical and mechanical engineers to integrate subsystems into larger platforms.
- Conduct tolerance and thermal analysis: Analyze how mechanical tolerances and thermal effects impact optical performance.
- Support documentation: Create and maintain engineering drawings, test reports, and assembly instructions.CAD proficiency
- Experience with 3D modeling software for mechanical design.
- Optical simulation tools: Familiarity with Zemax or similar software is a plus.
- Lab experience: Hands-on skills with optical alignment, metrology tools, and mechanical assembly.
- Data analysis: Ability to interpret test results and suggest design improvements.
Qualifications
Educational Background
Bachelor's, Master's in Mechanical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
Technical Skills
- CAD proficiency: Experience with tools like SolidWorks, Creo, or AutoCAD for mechanical design.
- Optical design familiarity: Exposure to software like Zemax or Code V is often preferred.
- Hands-on lab experience: Skills in assembling and aligning optical systems, using metrology tools, and interpreting test data.
- Basic programming: Knowledge of Python, MATLAB, or LabVIEW can be beneficial for automation and data analysis.
Additional Requirements
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities, especially in cross-disciplinary environments.
- U.S. citizenship or permanent residency may be required for roles involving government contracts (e.g., at Lockheed Martin or Raytheon).
Keysight Internship Program Requirements
Candidates who wish to be considered must be currently enrolled in an accredited college/university as of September 2026. Applicants who have graduated before September 2026 will not be considered unless they are starting a MS or PHD program after graduating.
