For our IC Design Centre, we are seeking a motivated and dedicated FPGA / Hardware Engineering Intern to join our international team. This position offers a unique opportunity to work on advanced prototyping and evaluation systems for Sony's innovative CMOS Image Sensors. The intern will support the development of FPGA-based platforms that emulate final products, ensuring their quality and performance before mass production. This is a hands-on role ideal for a student passionate about digital design, hardware, and the latest technology.
You will:
- Assist in the development and verification of FPGA designs for image sensor emulation platforms using VHDL or Verilog.
- Support the bring-up, testing, and debugging of hardware prototypes, including custom PCBs and daughter cards.
- Help create and maintain scripts (e.g., using Python, Tcl) to automate FPGA builds, testing procedures, and data analysis.
- Collaborate with senior FPGA, firmware, and digital design engineers to understand system requirements and assist in integration tasks.
- Document test plans, procedures, and results to support the validation process.
You will have:
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD degree, or equivalent, in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- Good understanding of digital logic design fundamentals.
- Basic exposure to an HDL (VHDL or Verilog) through coursework or projects.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills and a desire to work in a collaborative team environment.
You can set yourself apart if you have:
- Hands-on experience with FPGAs (Xilinx or Intel/Altera) from university or personal projects.
- Familiarity with scripting languages such as Python or Tcl.
- Basic knowledge of PCB design principles and/or schematic capture tools.
- Experience with lab equipment like oscilloscopes, logic analysers, and signal generators.
