The primary responsibilities for this role include the design, modeling, and development of protective relay settings for Distribution, and renewable energy interconnections.

Job Responsibilities:
Associate Engineer ย
- Learn and apply basic protection philosophy and applications to real-world scenarios.
- Develop protective relay settings for System Protection Engineering (SPE) Distribution protection schemes inside the substation.
- Under the guidance of experienced team members, provide technical assistance to various engineering and field teams to fully develop the protection and control design package.
- Provide technical support to conceptual engineering teams, project management teams and ET Field Organization throughout the course of capital projects.
- Perform other duties as requested or assigned.
Engineer
- Continue to learn and apply protection philosophy and application to real-world scenarios.
- Develop protective relay settings for SPE Distribution protection schemes inside the substation.
- Provide technical assistance to various engineering and field teams to fully develop the protection and control design package.
- Provide technical support to conceptual engineering teams, project management teams and ET Field Organization throughout the course of capital projects.
- Participate in various company teams and industry-level organizations to enhance ET's system protection performance.
- Participate in trade and industry organizations.
- Support team with settings peer review activities.
- Perform other duties as requested or assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience
The knowledge, skills, abilities and experience required for entry into this job include the following:
- Associate Engineer: 0-2 years of engineering experience
- Engineer: 2+ years of engineering experience
- Strong time management skills with the ability to independently plan and organize work assignments.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, including technical writing.
- Equally effective with working independently or in a team environment.
- Ability to think analytically and solve complex problems.
- Experience with short circuit modeling software preferred.
- Understanding of IEC 61850 communication protocol for intelligent substation protection is a plus.
- Experience with SAP work management systems is a plus.
- Programming skills for automation of system studies (e.g., Python, .NET, C#, etc.) is a plus.
- Ability to interpret codes, regulations, and practices.
- Understanding of AC/DC fundamentals, including three-phase power systems.
- Understanding of the principles of transmission and/or distribution relay protection a plus.

Education Requirements
Required Degree (equivalency not accepted in lieu of required degree):
Bachelorโs in Engineering
Preferred Discipline(s): Electrical Engineering
Other disciplines may be substituted for the preferred discipline(s) listed above.

REQUIRED ENGINEERING CRITERIA: ย
For placement of a candidate in the Engineer job series, the following criteria must be met: ย

Possess a 4-year Engineering degree from an ABET accredited Engineering program based on the year that the Engineering program was accredited by ABET, or ย
โ
Possess a 4-year Engineering degree from an institution outside of the U.S. which is accredited through the country's own Engineering accrediting body under the Washington Accord as a full signatory, and is a degree that was recognized by the country's accrediting body on or after the date that full signatory status was achieved, or ย

Possess a 4-year degree in Engineering (non-ABET accredited), Physics, Chemistry, Math or Engineering Technology and a post-graduate Engineering degree from an institution where the undergraduate degree in the same Engineering discipline is ABET-accredited based on the year the Engineering program was accredited by ABET, or ย
โ
Holds or has previously held a valid U.S. Professional Engineer license.
