• Hands on experience with programming languages such as MATLAB, SQL, R and/or Python
• Strong quantitative and problem-solving skills
• High degree of attention to detail and willingness to learn new technologies
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Fluency in English, both spoken and written
• Team player with the ability to work independently and function in a support role
• Ability to manage own workflow/priorities and meet deadlines
• Knowledge and experience in data visualization would be a plus
• Graduate/Post-graduate degree in Engineering, Financial Engineering, Econometrics, Economics, Statistics, Finance, Physics, Mathematics or Business preferred
• 0-2 years of relevant work experience required for Graduate degree candidates -- experience in financial analysis and credit risk a strong plus.
The major function of the role is to provide analytical, statistical, research and logistical assistance to the Default & Ratings Analytics team within Credit Strategy & Standards. Key responsibilities include:
• Track fundamental sector defaults and resolution and collect corporate default data
• Process, clean, and verify data for default and ratings performance research
• Utilize MATLAB, Excel, and SQL to query and manipulate large datasets to conduct statistical analysis
• Compile statistical data packets for rating methodology reviews
• Prepare data-oriented reports and presentations concerning ratings performance
• Support senior analysts in the drafting and visualization of default research publications
• Assist with ad-hoc quantitative projects and respond to internal as well as external data requests
