The Role:
Here at General Motors, we are looking for hard-working and forward-thinking individuals who enjoy taking on challenges and following through with robust solutions to join our Product Management Teams in Engine & Transmission Controls! Automation Execution Calibration Engineers work with vehicles, in-house released software/strategies and laboratories to develop & execute GMโs latest automated testing technologies. They support the lead calibrators, diagnostic strategist and calibration engineers, as well as stakeholders including the members of the vehicle platform, engine & transmission hardware, manufacturing plant and quality team. Depending on the area of responsibility, a Calibration Engineer may focus more heavily on automated test development/execution in engine controls, serial data, platform interface, or diagnostic calibration functionality. These are meaningful roles that ensure the powertrain integration to vehicles performs at world class levels and meets program objectives.

What You'll Do:
- Owns program specific Program Specific Automated Development Test Plan
- Leads execution of the Automated Development Test Plan / Chassis Dyno Development Process
- Leads program specific Development Forum and team review of Automated Development Test Plan which includes confirmation of buy-in from Key Stake Holders in end-to-end execution
- Ensures test readiness of all upcoming Automated Program Development Test Plans
- Collaborates directly with Lab staff, Calibration Engineers, Cal Technical Specialists & Test Automation Development Engineers to develop/execute automation and to ensure continuity in testing and returning to test
- Ensures execution and maintenance of all Automated Program Development Test Plans in-process;
- Provides support and overall guidance to all lab & engineering staff supporting daily testing and in overcoming roadblocks
- Basic understanding of Python code to troubleshoot / support development as needed
- A focal point for linking Chassis Dyno / Robot Systems / GM Automation SW / Gridscripts / Auxiliary Python Code
- Leads in maintenance of existing automated maneuvers;
- Participate or lead cross functional workgroups to resolve testing issues
- Develop and adhere to standard work methods and tools. Suggest and create improvements as applicable
- Perform tests to efficiently find opportunities for design improvements in complex systems
- Lead a 2nd dimensional project in addition to your core responsibilities
- Keep abreast of industry trends, technologies, and best practices
- Identify and document automation vulnerabilities and build mitigation action plans; track corrective actions

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):
- Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, related Engineering degree or equivalent applicable experience
- 2+ years of technical and/or manufacturing engineering experience
- Experience with data acquisition and analysis on complex problems
- Knowledge of powertrain systems
- Strong ability to work with computer-based tools to collect and analyze data
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively and professionally with colleagues and partners.
- Ability to work in cross-functional discipline activities, utilizing project management skills
- Strong analytical ability where problems are unusual and difficult
- Possess a valid driverโs license and ability to operate test vehicles

What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):
- Master of Science in Engineering or equivalent applicable experience in the area of integrated laboratory systems including chassis dynamometers & automation
- 5+ years engine or transmission calibration experience
- 3+ years of experience with in-vehicle testing
- Demonstrated experience leading technical teams and issue resolution
- Knowledge and understanding of complex powertrain control systems
- Knowledge of computer software as it pertains to integrated laboratory systems
- Knowledge of vehicle CAN bus data recording systems
- Strong ability to efficiently collect and analyze empirical data
- Experience INCA/ETAS data acquisition
- Automotive OEM experience
