This Engineer shall work with plant Operations and Maintenance to address chronic maintenance issues and manage capital improvement projects to improve station reliability. This role is inclusive of reporting responsibilities for NERC checklists, Environmental Compliance and Generating Availability Data.
McMeekin Station is a natural gas-fired power plant located near Lake Murray in Columbia, South Carolina. As part of Dominion Energy South Carolinaโs generation fleet, McMeekin plays a critical role in delivering reliable electricity to the region. The facility features steam turbine units and advanced control systems, offering engineers hands-on experience with modern power generation technology and opportunities to work on projects that impact grid reliability and operational efficiency.
Saluda Hydroelectric Station, also on Lake Murray, is a historic hydroelectric facility that utilizes the Saluda River to produce renewable energy. In addition to power generation, Saluda Station is central to dam safety, water resource management, and environmental stewardship. Engineers at Saluda gain exposure to hydroelectric operations, dam safety programs, and collaborative work that supports both sustainability and community needs.
Together, these stations offer engineers a dynamic work environment with diverse technical challenges, opportunities for professional growth, and the chance to contribute to the future of energy in South Carolina.

Plant engineers at McMeekin Station and Saluda Hydroelectric Station must be prepared to work in environments that are sometimes loud, dirty, and physically demanding. While much of the role involves office-based tasks and technical analysis, engineers regularly enter areas with operating machinery, heavy equipment, and industrial processes. This means exposure to high noise levels, dust, grease, oil, and other elements common to power generation facilities. Work may also require time outdoors, in confined spaces, and in conditions that are hot, cold, or otherwise challenging. Adaptability and a willingness to work in these environments are essential for success in this role.
