Divisional Overview

The Investment Banking team strives to provide best‐in‐class advice and execution excellence on complex transactions across mergers and acquisitions and financing (including equity offerings, debt issuances and derivative transactions)

Role Overview

The Financial & Strategic Sponsors Group (FSIG) supports coverage of private equity firms, sovereign wealth funds, family offices and other institutional investors. This support role is critical in enabling senior bankers to maintain strong relationships with sponsors and identify business opportunities across M&A, capital markets, and portfolio company advisory

The broad range of responsibilities offer the successful candidates an excellent start to their career in Investment Banking with comprehensive training, broad exposure and access to a first-class network for career advancement. The role will also provide opportunities to interact with bankers in different regions and to travel to different GS offices, for training, reconnecting with the global teams and working on assignments.

Job Responsibilities

• Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
  • Analyse and prepare industry, market, or company-specific deep dives
  • Research company financials, valuation and fundamental metrics
  • Build and maintain idea trackers across private, public, and carve-out opportunities, capturing ownership, key updates, investment thesis/rationale, and actionability
  • Conduct thematic sector studies and collaborate with sector teams to generate potential investment ideas tailored to client preferences
  • Maintain relationships with private equity clients to originate buyside, sellside, and financing mandates
  • Assist in preparing materials for internal client coverage and regular pipeline meetings

Basic Qualifications

• Master’s degree in, finance, accounting, economics or related field
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work with teams across the world as an integrated team member
• Strong interest and aptitude for finance and valuation principles
• Excellent understanding of Microsoft Office products, tools and utilities for business use
