WSP is currently initiating a search for an Early Career Substation Electrical Engineer for our Minneapolis, Minnesota office. Be involved in projects with our Power Delivery Substation Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our clientsβ objectives and solves their challenges.

Your Impact
The Early Career Substation Electrical Engineer will share responsibility with the rest of the department to produce a product consistent with our mission statement and our culture. They are expected to support the department in achieving its goals of the department, maintain our high-quality standards, promote internal teamwork, and meet the needs of our clients.6
- Perform the detailed design of low to extra-high voltage substations including, but not limited to:
- One-line diagrams
- Schematics
- Wiring diagrams
- SCADA
- Communications
- Station physical layouts
- Sections/Elevations
- Cable and conduit plans and details
- Ground grid design and details
- Foundation plans and details
- Structural plans and details
- Control enclosure design and details
- Lightning protection plans
- Yard lighting plans
- Bills of Materials
- Site visits
- Support QA/QC for deliverables to clients
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, and adhere to WSPβs Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
- Shall learn, understand, and adhere to client standards and processes while working individually or within a team to complete complex and technically challenging designs

Required Qualifications
- BSEE (BS Electrical Engineering) or BSEET (BS Electrical Engineering Technology) degree, from an accredited university preferably with a power option
- Strong knowledge and understanding of electrical engineering to build on
- Candidates should enjoy living in the Burnsville area, or have a desire and ability to relocate there with minimal assistance
- Strong command of the English language with good written and oral communication skills in order to work effectively with internal team members and external client personnel
- Legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. without the need for work sponsorship
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSPβs health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
- Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.

Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ months of relevant electrical engineering work experience; could be on an internship or co-op basis
- Minimum 3.0 Grade Point Average (GPA)
- Knowledge of electrical utility substations and familiarity with substation design
- Engineer In Training certificate (EIT) or passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam
