About the Index Serve Platform Team
The Bing Index Serve team is at the heart of Bing’s search engine. We manage tens of thousands of machines and deliver backend search services for document selection and ranking at massive scale. Our technology stack spans some of the most exciting areas in computing, including:

Starting January 26, 2026, Microsoft AI (MAI) employees who live within a 50- mile commute of a designated Microsoft office in the U.S. or 25-mile commute of a non-U.S., country-specific location are expected to work from the office at least four days per week. This expectation is subject to local law and may vary by jurisdiction.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement highly scalable, low-latency, always-on services that power Bing search.
- Quickly ramp up on diverse components, understand their design and functionality, and deliver impactful features.
- Influence architecture and design decisions across teams, driving best practices and common patterns.
- Collaborate effectively with multiple teams, demonstrating solid partnership and communication skills.
- Design, build, and optimize search and information retrieval solutions, as well as large‑scale distributed systems, to support AI‑driven online applications.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 2+ years related experience (e.g., statistics, predictive analytics, research)
- OR Master's Degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 1+ year(s) related experience (e.g., statistics, predictive analytics, research)
- OR Doctorate in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field
- OR equivalent experience.
- 1+ years of programming experience in Python, C++, C#, or similar languages.
- Familiarity with data mining, machine learning, classification, clustering, or related areas.
- Ability to think creatively and deliver innovative solutions to complex problems.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 5+ years related experience (e.g., statistics, predictive analytics, research)
- OR Master's Degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 3+ years related experience (e.g., statistics, predictive analytics, research)
- OR Doctorate in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 1+ year(s) related experience (e.g., statistics, predictive analytics, research)
- OR equivalent experience.
- Experience in search technologies, information retrieval, or large-scale distributed systems.
- Expertise in Deep Learning, especially Natural Language Processing (NLP).
