As an Applied Research Intern, you will be part of a diverse and interdisciplinary global team of experts. We hire specialists in ML/NLP/IR, as well as Engineering and Design, to drive the company’s digital and AI transformation. Thomson Reuters Labs is known for consistently delivering successful data-driven Artificial Intelligence solutions in support of high-growth products that serve Thomson Reuters customers in new and exciting ways.

The internship duration at Thomson Reuters Labs is typically up to 6 to 8 months and may be aligned with one or two academic semesters, depending upon your availability.

About You:

This is our wish list. We understand that few people check every box. If you are excited about this opportunity, meet most of the following criteria, and are eager to learn, we want to hear from you!

• A PhD or MSc student (or a recent graduate) in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, or other quantitative disciplines.
• Experienced in one or more programming languages (preferably Python) and have experience working in the collaborative (e.g., Git) and Cloud (preferably AWS) environments.
• Have a solid understanding and experience with Natural Language Processing (NLP), Information Retrieval (IR), and Machine Learning (ML) methods, including classic methods, deep learning (DL), and large language models (LLM).
• Have experience with ML/DL/NLP/LLM libraries such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, Scikit-learn, spaCy, HuggingFace, LangChain, LangGraph, Pydantic AI, etc.
• Are comfortable working with unstructured datasets and are knowledgeable about tools and techniques for data cleaning and processing.
• Have good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
• Publication on a relevant topic and at NLP/IR/ML venues (ACL, EMNLP, NAACL, NeurIPS, SIGIR, KDD, ICLR, ICML, etc.).
