The Interiors Engineering department implements new passenger cabins and reconfigures existing cabins for Delta's aircraft fleet through the development and deployment of engineering solutions. The department supports the reconfiguration of Delta's cabins as an effort to improve our passengers' overall experience as well as to align with Delta Corporate Strategy. Within Interiors Engineering, the department is comprised of two teams: Cabin Avionics and Cabin Design. Interiors Engineering is currently seeking a Project Engineer to support the Cabin Design team.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Define scope for cabin related designs, integrations, installations, and certifications of cabin components and systems for Delta’s aircraft fleet.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders, aircraft OEMs, component suppliers, and maintenance repair organizations, to support the design and development of cabin reconfigurations, new product development, and/or new aircraft specifications.
- Collect information, organize documents, and participate in design review meetings to develop Engineering Authorizations for prior-to-service or cabin retrofit projects.
- Provide onsite prototype and production support for aircraft modifications or prior-to-service visits.
- Develops and maintains awareness of pertinent industry activities and technology trends.
- Establishes work prioritization and balances multiple concurrent projects.
- Coordinates projects with internal and external organizations, including various commodity suppliers. Develops strong internal customer relationships and maintains high level of customer focus.

What you need to succeed (minimum qualifications)
- Candidates for this position should have a bachelor’s degree in engineering.
- Internal candidates must be performing satisfactorily in current position.
- Internal candidates with grade levels above the existing job posting should contact the hiring manager.
- Previous airline, military, OEM or MRO experience with commercial aircraft is strongly preferred.

What will give you a competitive edge (preferred qualifications)
- Familiarity with airline operations and support systems.
- Familiarity with CFR’s and DOT regulations pertaining to aircraft cabin certification.
- Familiarity with use of Aircraft Technical Manuals (AMM, CMM, IPCs, WDMs, etc.)
- Familiarity with application of Safety Risk Management in technical applications is desired.
