The Construction Property team of Allianz Commercial offers a breadth of new and enhanced coverages. We offer real estate developers, contractor’s, subcontractors, architects, and property owners’ coverage for buildings that are under construction, renovation, or repair, including: builders risk, contractor’s equipment, installation floaters, riggers liability, and related property.

The Impact You Will Have
‍
Reporting to the Executive Underwriter Team Lead – Master Builders Risk Practice, the Intern will participate with and contribute to the Construction Property Team. The internship program will provide the opportunity to apply a macro understanding of risk in the real world by working side-by-side with our underwriting, risk consulting and operational support team professionals.  Interns will participate in a wide range of learning and development opportunities including job shadows, attendance at internal meetings, speaking engagements and events designed to expose the intern to other areas of insurance.

Some of your specific responsibilities could include: 
‍
- Underwriting/Risk Consulting
- Exposure to the identification and analysis of risk and loss control advice.
- Continue exposure and education in the underwriting of the risk selection, and retention on accounts.
- Some activities will cross line of business in nature and may allow for a full spectrum of the capabilities of the Allianz Risk Consulting Teams
- Special Projects
- As part of a growing and vibrant, innovative team specializing in the underwriting of large complex clients’ portfolios as well as individual project risks, you will also be involved in:
- Developing and cultivating client prospects and new opportunities
- Supporting due diligence, compliance and governance reviews
- Developing and building out new client-facing tools and peer-to-peer networks
- Assisting with natcat risk assessments (NATHAN, FEMA, RMS Modeling, CATlas, etc.)
- Learning about portfolio underwriting of complex construction clients, and the engineering review process that helps determine which clients are the best fit for our products
- Participation in account underwriting, pre-quote interviews with clients, pre-quote roundtable discussions, and post-bind account stewardship and servicing
- Attending broker meetings and events
- Participating in national underwriting team meetings, weekly MBR team meetings, and other cross-sell/regional calls

What You’ll Bring to the Role – 
‍
- Currently pursuing university or college degree in Business, Economics, Finance, Risk Management, Insurance or related discipline
- Minimum GPA of 3.0
- Knowledge of basic computer operations including a strong working knowledge of Excel and other MS office applications
- Ability to apply field of study learnings to the internship
- Knowledge of basic math skills – strong aptitude for numbers
- Self-starter with the ability to work as a team member in a fast-paced dynamic environment
- Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
- Strong oral and written communication
- The ability to utilize AI tools to support day-today tasks, improve efficiency, and contribute to data-driven decision-making is valuable. A willingness to learn and explore how AI can enhance your role, and the broader organization is expected.
