Are you passionate about the science behind products like Ariel, Lenor and Fairy you use every day? Do you want to work with world-class brands in the largest consumer company in the world whilst studying towards your degree?

We are offering 12-month placement opportunities for Researchers studying a BSc Degree which will start in July 2026 at our Newcastle Innovation Centre.

About our Newcastle Innovation Centre

This role is based in our Newcastle Innovation Centre. The centre focuses on developing Products for Fabric Care and Home Care with brands such as Ariel, Fairy and Bold. Our R&D sites are where ideas come to life, with teams collaborating across R&D, product development, and technology to create and test products that make a real difference!

The site is conveniently located just a 15-minute drive from both the City Centre and the scenic Northeast coastline, with the Tyne and Wear Metro only a 10-minute walk away and regular bus connections. There is free on-site parking, a coffee shop, subsidized restaurant serving breakfast and lunch, and a gym!

What To Expect:

Research and Development (R&D) at P&G will help you to discover the essence behind crafting some of the world's most renowned brands. Delve into a realm where science takes centre stage. Some of the best scientists in the world go to work making our products just right for the billions of consumers who use them. We're talking cutting edge technology, "hands-on" labs and pilot plants, 41,000+ active patents and a team full of inventors.

During your 12-month paid placement, you will get a first-hand experience of what a career in R&D with P&G involves, and if it is right for you. Each intern will work on their own projects, but as part of an overall project team. You will also have an opportunity to put your technical skills to work on intellectually challenging problems and improve your team working and leadership skills through practical experience and interactive training courses. This year will give you the chance to experience the working environment in a leading international company and gain guidance on your professional development. We enrol students in their penultimate or final year of their BSc for scientific and engineering disciplines into the various roles in R&D, e.g. Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Life Sciences, Forensic Science, Microbiology, Lab Management and Physical Sciences. We also look for skills such as creativity, innovation, initiative, communication, leadership, and the ability to work with others.
