Lazard Asset Management is currently recruiting for Research Analyst to support its Sustainable Investment and ESG team which is located across New York and London.
This is an exciting opportunity to work in a growing team within a large global organization. This position will play a key role in leveraging the firm’s existing ESG capabilities to ensure Lazard maintains its reputation for cutting-edge investment research, while working to further our processes. The position requires an individual with a passion for sustainable investing combined with strong numerical and financial modelling skills, and will report to the SVP of Investment Stewardship.

We’ll trust you to:
- Conduct thematic research on emerging sustainability topics, such as climate transition, biodiversity, circular economy, social equity, and governance best practices, relevant to US markets and portfolios.
- Collaborate closely with sector analysts and portfolio managers to identify material ESG risks and opportunities across holdings and potential investments.
- Lead and support engagement initiatives with US companies to understand sustainability practices, performance, and investment thesis drivers.
- Develop and refine internal frameworks for ESG integration aligned with Lazard’s global sustainable investment strategy.
- Monitor and analyze ESG performance, carbon metrics, and other sustainability KPIs for key US portfolios.
- Support the design and delivery of client reports, presentations, and narratives for both internal and external stakeholders.
- Represent the Sustainable Investment team in client meetings, RFPs, and consultant interactions, articulating Lazard’s sustainability philosophy and integration approach.
- Identify opportunities to take ownership and responsibility for other projects/activities that contribute to the success of the firm’s investment stewardship capabilities.

You’ll need to have:
- Passion for sustainable investment and ESG with 3-5 years of experience primarily in investment banking, sell side research, asset management and/or consulting; preference for experience covering energy, industrials, tech, or consumer.
- Strong financial, analytical, modeling (Excel) research and communication skills.
- Strong understanding of US equity markets, corporate sustainability trends, and ESG data platforms (i.e. MSCI, Sustainalytics, ISS, Bloomberg).
- Self-motivated, entrepreneurial individual with the ambition to succeed in and work collaboratively in an environment that demands constant multi-tasking and liaison across regional offices, investment platforms and time-zones.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex concepts into clear investment insights.
- Proven ability to convey expertise, influence decision-making, and build trusted relationships with investment teams, clients, and company management.
- A methodical approach to work, with an ability to organize and prioritize heavy workloads.
- Accountability and willingness to take initiative to independently learn and continuously improve output.
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree or CFA preferred.
