You’ll need:
- A Master’s or PhD in a Mathematical or Quantitative subject (e.g. Maths, Physics, Computer Science, Engineering, Quantitative Finance).
- Proficiency in at least one object-oriented programming language (Python, C++, Java, etc.).
- A demonstrable independent research project (e.g. Master’s thesis, PhD).
- Expertise in at least one of: signal processing, machine learning, stochastic calculus, numerical analysis, optimisation, forecasting models, Monte Carlo simulation.
What you’ll do
You’ll help colleagues and clients interpret data, make well-timed investments and develop forward-looking financial strategies. You’ll gain a holistic view of Quantitative Finance across markets, trading, sales, structuring and analysis.

- Learning the dynamics that drive markets, understanding correlations and building a feel for what to watch when trading.
- Formulating clear market views and confidently presenting trade ideas and investment solutions.
- Working closely with traders to perform risk assessments, apply different strategies and develop trading ideas.
- Training on Bloomberg, Reuters and HSBC’s proprietary tools.
- Developing coding and data skills, using Excel, VBA and Python to build tools and models.
