Introduction:
ESG IM partners closely with our global investment teams and portfolio companies to advance ESG practices and sustainable outcomes, directly contributing to Temasek’s efforts in building a resilient and forward-looking portfolio. This involves:
- In-depth pre-investment due diligence of investment targets to manage ESG risks and identify opportunities for sustainability leadership
- Driving climate transition strategy and progress towards our portfolio 2030 and 2050 emissions reduction goals
- Post-investment engagement with portfolio companies to drive value creation, by providing strategic guidance, reviewing targets and facilitating knowledge exchange
- Developing thematic and sectoral frameworks as part of institutional capability building
- Leveraging ESG data and analytics for portfolio assessment and monitoring to improve resiliency
Job Description:
- Perform in-depth ESG research to support (1) ESG due diligence on new investment targets, (2) the development / enhancement of internal frameworks and (3) the building of institutional knowledge on the evolving ESG landscape
- Evaluate portfolio companies' sustainability performance by assessing their overall ESG maturity, climate transition readiness, practices on other material topics, and exploring opportunities for ESG value creation
- Contribute to Temasek's climate leadership by analysing carbon emissions performance and trends for Temasek and our portfolio
- Support the development and maintenance of critical dashboards and tools
- Provide flexible support on emerging priorities and ad-hoc projects as needed
Qualifications/ Capabilities:
- Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree
- Prior experience in ESG and sustainability is preferred but not a must
- Passionate about ESG and sustainability with a strong willingness to learn
- Excellent analytical, data, and communication skills
- Ability to navigate and coordinate across diverse stakeholders, with strong people skills
- Demonstrate understanding of the linkages between ESG and a company’s business model and operations.
