What youโll do:
- Oversee the daily operations of the Waveguide Production Line
- Responsible for supervising production staff, ensuring output meets high standards of quality and safety, and maintaining operational efficiency in a fast-paced, target-driven environment
- Collaborate closely with the Production Manager to deliver key operational goals
- Ensure adherence to internal health, safety, quality, and operational policies through regular inspections and documented compliance checks
- Lead, mentor, and support a team of production operators, promoting a culture of accountability, quality, and continuous improvement aligned with Snapโs core values: Kind, Smart, and Creative
- Oversee and coordinate shift production activities to ensure resources and a smooth workflow alongside timely delivery of waveguide components
- Serve as the first point of contact for resolving on-the-floor issues during your shift, including personnel concerns, process breakdowns, or urgent safety matters
- Monitor production output against established KPIs, promptly escalating performance or operational issues when necessary
- Foster strong communication between shifts to ensure seamless handovers and consistent production continuity, across the shifts as a whole
- Hold shift standup meetings at the start and end of shift inc corrective actions
- Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Stores,IT and R&D teams to troubleshoot challenges and drive process enhancements
- Be open and adaptable to changes in shift patterns and structure in order to support business needs (expected shift patterns: 6am - 3pm and 2pm - 11pm)
- Maintain accurate and timely records of production data, material usage, and shift reports
- Support training and upskilling of team members to meet evolving technological and production standards, inclusive of training records and a cross training matrix.
- Promote cleanliness, organization, and discipline within the production area
- Monitor workstations to proactively identify and resolve minor process deviations, equipment issues, or handling errors
- Communicate key updates, issues, and performance insights to the Production Manager in a timely manner
- Provide input during performance evaluations and contribute to succession planning within the team.
- Deliver Lean manufacturing practices and participate in continuous improvement initiatives (e.g., 5S, Kaizen, Root Cause Analysis)

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Understanding of Health and Safety regulations (COSHH, risk assessments, PPE requirements)
- Familiarity with production targets (KPIโs, shift planning, yield targets).
- Ability to interpret and understand SOPโs and work instructions.
- Fluent using computer softwares such as google sheets, docs, and slides.
- Strong leadership, team management and communication skills.

Minimum Qualifications:
- GCSEโs (or equivalent) including English and Maths
- Minimum 2-3 years experience in a production environment

Preferred Qualifications and Experience:
- At least 1 year as a senior operator, supervisor or lead within a production environment.
- Experience in clean room, precision manufacturing, or optical semi-conductor assembly is beneficial.
- Higher national certificate or diploma, or relevant apprenticeship in manufacturing, engineering or leadership and management.
