Use Your Power For Purpose
Pfizer’s purpose is to deliver breakthroughs that transform patients' lives. The Research and Development organization strives to convert advanced science and cutting-edge technologies into impactful therapies. As a postdoctoral fellow you will apply innovative computational techniques to discover new disease mechanisms, which will expedite the delivery of top-tier medicines to patients globally.
What You Will Achieve
The systems immunology group in Pfizer’s Inflammation and Immunology research unit seeks an exceptional postdoctoral fellow with expertise in human genetics and computational biology to discover causal molecular and environmental risk factors for immune-mediated diseases. This project—which will involve collaboration with a vibrant community of human geneticists, immunologists, and computational biologists—will advance our understanding of the diverse, complex mechanisms underlying immune-mediated diseases.
How You Will Achieve it:
- Contribute intellectually to the design and interpretation of a rigorous human genetics-led study of determinants of immune-mediated diseases
- Perform intricate analyses of individual-level genetic, molecular, demographic, and clinical data to discover novel risk factors for immune-mediated diseases
- Determine the causality of such risk factors using methods in human genetics
- Characterize genetic correlations between diverse immune-mediated diseases
- Explore and validate results across population-scale biobank datasets
- Interpret the immunological mechanisms and significance of all novel associations
- Publish in a high-impact journal
Must Have
- PhD in human/statistical genetics or related field
- Willingness to make a minimum 2-year commitment
- No more than 2 years of post-degree experience
- Successful record of scientific publications with at least one first-author manuscript published or submitted for publication in a peer-reviewed journal
- Familiarity with common methods for analysis/associations with individual-level genetic data, and post-GWAS analyses (S-LDSC, MR, etc)
- Experienced with common statistical methods/tests; strong coding experience
- Willingness to learn about immune-mediated diseases
- Ability to devise innovative bespoke analyses and work independently
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including communication with non-scientists, and high attention to detail
Nice to Have
- Experience working with biobank datasets
- Experience with basic and/or translational immunology
- Experience with analysis of single cell RNA/CITE-sequencing data
