Job Description
As a Module Software Release Quality Engineer, you will be primarily responsible for validating and ensuring the successful delivery of software and configuration data for vehicle field service actions (FSAs) and quality service fixes (QSFs). This role focuses on software verification, quality assurance, and providing critical field support to maintain high standards of vehicle software performance and reliability.
Responsibilities
- Lead the validation and verification of software and configuration data for vehicle field service actions (FSAs) and quality service fixes (QSFs) to ensure successful implementation.
- Design, develop, test, and release robust software verification features and tools, including automation for VIN checks and update coverage.
- Conduct comprehensive software validation using both simulation tools and on-vehicle testing to confirm functionality, performance, and reliability before deployment.
- Collaborate extensively with Product Engineering, Software/Hardware Designers, Suppliers, and MCP Engineers to ensure design intent is met and rapid solutions are provided for customer-facing issues.
- Manage and process critical data, maintain templates, and ensure data accuracy for software updates, including VIN-specific tracking for vehicle programs (e.g., SYNC4/Phoenix).
- Document software updates and defects meticulously in to ensure traceability and quality across development cycles.
- Support and lead international Ford teams in developing vehicle testing platforms and effectively communicate test readiness and results to senior management.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Applied Science, or Automotive Technology.
- Proven experience in software validation, testing, and release for production vehicles, ensuring functionality, performance, and reliability.
- Strong proficiency in JIRA for project tracking, documentation, and defect management.
- Experience in designing and implementing automation scripts (e.g., Python) to optimize testing processes.
- Demonstrated ability to perform software validation using both simulation tools and on-vehicle methods.
- Excellent project management, verbal, and written communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with global, cross-functional teams.
- Experience managing complex data, such as VIN-specific software update tracking.
- Dealership field experience, particularly within Service Departments or as a Repair Technician.
- Experience with Ford Agile development methodologies.
- A strong desire to enhance and improve the technician’s diagnostic experience.
