Adyen is looking for a Junior Financial Controller for the Group Finance team in Amsterdam. As a Financial Controller, you will be focused primarily on owning the trial balance for various EMEA entities, overseeing the day-to-day of the entities and managing overarching projects. You will interact and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders in order to support our continued business growth in a scalable, controlled and compliant way. The ideal candidate takes ownership of our local financials for various EMEA entities, and has a drive to understand these and is able to tie this back to where we’re heading as a Group globally.
Being part of the centralized Financial Controlling team in Amsterdam means you’ll be working in the (financial) engine room of a registered and listed financial institution; being part of a relatively small team means you’ll be (in)directly involved in a lot of very interesting topics that reach beyond the Indian borders.
What you will do
Your core focus will be on execution and applying robust accounting principles:
- Own the General Ledger (GL): Manage and maintain the full general ledger for multiple EMEA entities and branches, focusing on accuracy and integrity.
- Drive the Month-End Close: Prepare, execute, and review critical month-end close activities, including posting routing journals and rigorous reconciliation reviews (e.g., fixed assets, prepayments, accruals).
- Financial Reporting and Audit: Execute the preparation of local financial statements. Act as a key coordinator with external auditors, facilitating timely and smooth audit processes and addressing their queries effectively.
- Process Improvement & Scaling: Seek out initiatives to automate manual work, reduce risk, and improve the efficiency of our financial processes to keep pace with Adyen's rapid growth.
- Internal Control Stakeholder: Monitor and maintain the internal control frameworks for your relevant entities, understanding the purpose and risks being addressed by controls.
- Ad-Hoc Support: Fulfill key reporting requests from various internal and external stakeholders across the business.
Who you are
- Experience & Fundamentals: A minimum of 3 years of experience in financial control / accounting, preferably combined with audit experience. You must have a strong, principle-driven understanding of IFRS/local GAAP accounting.
- High Ownership: Able to take full ownership, prioritize effectively, and perform business-as-usual tasks with limited guidance from others.
- Ambition & Energy: You are ambitious and willing to work hard to achieve excellence. You are proactive in every project you take on.
- Critical Thinker: You can think two steps ahead. We are looking for someone who can question the status quo—thinking critically and creatively to implement scalable solutions.
- Detail-Oriented & Analytical: Highly detail-oriented with an analytical mindset, capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously.
