GE Vernova Interns are GE’s primary pipeline to full-time employment opportunities as a direct hire. GE Vernova Interns are hired to focus on a particular area within GE Vernova based on availability of positions, the interviewer's assessment, and the applicant's preference. Focus areas for this internship will be in Grid – Software Solutions within Services and Engineering functions.
In this position, the interns will work on solving interesting problems related to Wholesale Energy Markets, including Unit Commitment, Economical Dispatch, Optimal Power flow and other software solutions.
What you'll bring - Basic Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in a Master’s or Ph. D Degree program at an accredited university or credentialed software accelerator program.
- Degree focused on Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering.
- Minimum cumulative or in-major 3.0/4.0 GPA.
- Must commit to working full time (40 hrs/wk) during the internship.
- Must be willing to work out of an office located in Bellevue, WA.
- Must have the ability to work in the US for an unlimited amount of time without sponsorship
What will make you stand out - Desired Qualifications:
- Familiarity with machine learning, deep learning, GPU applications, or quantum computing
- Background in optimization or power systems
- Hands-on coding experience
- Experience with artificial intelligence and conversational AI technologies for developing intelligent assistants
Potential Research Areas:
- Machine Learning/Deep Learning in Power System Optimization
- GPU Applications in Unit Commitment (UC)
- Improving System Inertia and Frequency Stability with UC (Considering Virtual Inertia Control)
- Quantum Computing in UC
- Intelligent Conversational Assistant (Voice and Text Command) for Market Applications

The pay for this position ranges from $21.00/hr - $36.00/hr based on years of undergraduate/graduate field of study completed.
This position is also eligible for:
- Relocation Assistance: Co-op/Interns will be reimbursed for reasonable, proper, and documented expenditures incurred while initially reporting to work and returning to school/home upon completion of the assignment. Employees with a permanent address greater than 50 miles away from the work location are eligible.
- Housing Allowance: Co-op/Interns employees receive a weekly housing allowance to help off-set living expenses when the co-op/Intern’s permanent residence is at least 50 miles away from the work location.
- Employee Assistance Program, providing 24/7 confidential assessment, counseling and referral services
- GE Vernova Retirement Savings Plan (RSP) after their accumulated service reaches 90 days, and they meet any other eligibility requirements as defined in the plans. (Eligibility occurs on the 1st of the month following the 90th day.)
