Essential Responsibilities:
As a Field Service Engineer, you will:
- Perform installation and commissioning on drive systems, power systems, automation systems or dynamic positioning systems at customer site locations during ship construction.
- Performs troubleshooting activities at site locations during scheduled Port visits or at sea to diagnose problems, determine appropriate resolution, and implements corrective actions.
- Performs a wide range of engineering tasks to ensure the technical integrity and proper installation and commissioning of our equipment.
- Develop documentation to execute work such as commissioning and maintenance procedures, as well as execute customer training.
- Execute on site project management and technical leader duties to resolve customer issues and provide customer satisfaction
- Identify sales opportunities for service agreements, spare parts, training, and upgrades.
- Provide on call support in response to customer calls for service.
- Assist in the growth and direction of the North American business.
- Provide support to engineering teams working on customer upgrade projects
- Complete timely service reports and other administrative requirements
- Perform work on-board vessels within GE / Customer safety guidelines either in shipyards or offshore.
- Extended hours / overtime maybe required during peak periods and emergency circumstances.
- Domestic or overseas travel to customer sites for extended periods of time.

Qualifications/Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline from an accredited college or university.
- OR Associate's Degree or related discipline from an accredited college or university with a minimum 3 additional years of related industry experience.
- OR High School diploma or GED equivalency with a minimum of 6 years of related industry experience.
- Ability and willingness to travel 85% of the timeโ on short notice

Desired Characteristics:
- US Person with the ability to achieve security clearance for Department of Defense projects.
- Previous Marine Industry experience.
- Must be physically fit to be able to board vessels offshore.
- For field service engineers that have the potential of working offshore, must be able to pass a Helicopter Underwater Egress Training (HUET) and offshore survival course which includes activities in a swimming pool.
- Possesses leadership qualities that align with GE Vernova Way.
- Background in a customer facing position within a Service environment.
- Ability to execute increasingly complicated assignments, which require considerable engineering skill and creative ability and independent judgment.
- The work environment at onsite locations is of a construction type setting. ย Whilst performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, extreme cold, extreme heat, risk of electrical shock, risk of trips, slips and falls. ย The noise level on-site or on-board ships can be excessive, personal protective equipment (PPE) will be required.
- Strong computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to utilize MS Office applications.
