What to Expect
The Role
As a Tesla Maintenance Technician, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the operational availability of a wide array of manufacturing equipment. You will apply your technical skills to install, maintain and repair mechanical and electrical systems, factory automation and robotics. You will work with the highest caliber process and equipment engineering teams to improve equipment reliability and minimize or eliminate downtime. Tesla's Equipment Maintenance is also the first-responding problem solvers who manage machine breakdown recoveries to keep production running. This is a physically demanding job working in tight spaces, requiring walking and standing all day, as well as, bending, squatting, kneeling, climbing ladders and lying on the ground intermittently throughout the day. In addition, the technician may wear a fall protection harness while working from heights or from a suspended position. Maintenance Technicians will lift up to 50 lbs. and utilize other hand tools and power tools as needed.
What You’ll Do
- Perform Preventative Maintenance (PM) on all industrial production and mechatronics equipment
- Perform repairs on production-down equipment and operate and repair every cell on a Line
- Perform Corrective Maintenance (repairs) on more than one of these types of equipment: mechanical systems, conveyor systems, hydraulics , pneumatics, and piping
- Control the inventory of parts, supplies, and lab equipment and do request to engineering team in case is required, or obtain them from storerooms
- Log all work as performed and feed back to engineering and other team members on changes done in the shift or items to follow up
What You’ll Bring
- Two (2) or more years of experience working in a maintenance capacity on production manufacturing equipment and/or have equivalent training or relevant education
- Ability to read and interpret work instructions and parameter specs
- Solid knowledge and ability to read and interpret detailed mechanical assembly drawings and accurately validate performance
- Proficient with pneumatics-solenoid valves, actuator and control operations, hydraulic system operations and can read schematics
- Ability to analyze problems and error conditions, identify root causes, and implement viable long-term solutions
- Must have command of the English language, both written and verbal
Physical Demands
- Ability to perform physically demanding work for extended periods of time, up to 12 hours a day
- Ability to stand and walk for up to 12 hours/day, including over varied and uneven terrain
- Frequently and repetitively, lift, push and carry up to 35 lbs., including the ability to carry 20 lbs. up and down stairs
- Frequently and repetitively, bend, lift and reach to install parts
- Stoop, lay, bend, reach, squat, kneel, crouch, twist and crawl for extended periods of time, including up to 12 hours/day
- Climb and maintain balance on ladders, scaffolding or other high structures
- Ability to find issues in a work process and receive safety signals using sight, touch, and hearing
- Wearing Personal Protective Equipment, including but not limited to: fall protection equipment, full face respirator, safety glasses, safety shoes, bump cap and adhering to prescribed safety rules and guidelines
