At Aon, we shape decisions for the better to protect and enrich the lives of people around the world. As an organisation, we are united through trust as one inclusive, diverse team, and we are passionate about helping our colleagues and clients succeed.
Join Aon as a Commercial Risk or Reinsurance summer intern and spend 9 weeks discovering why insurance, reinsurance and risk management are the cornerstones of every company's capital structure. We help our clients identify their risks, ensuring they have the best possible cover to mitigate them.
As well as identifying risk for our clients, we also predict and spread risk. This means that, if major catastrophes hit, economies can keep going and people can get on with their lives. As an Aon Summer Intern, you'll play a key role in making this essential work happen.
We’ll help you learn about our business and the broking process, develop your professional skills and build strong relationships with clients and colleagues alike.
Commercial Risk Solutions: Trends in economics, demographics and geopolitics – compounded by the rapid pace of technological change – are creating unprecedented volatility for organisations. We assist clients with their insurance buying decisions, aiming to optimize the balance of risk transfer and retention financing through valuation and analysis. You can learn more about our Risk Transfer offerings here: Broking and Risk Transfer | Aon
Reinsurance Solutions: Unprecedented volatility is creating new risks and opportunities for organisations across the global economy. We provide risk transfer, claims advocacy and capital management solutions to help re/insurers reduce volatility and build more resilient businesses, governments and communities. You’ll join either our Commercial Risk Solutions or Reinsurance Solutions team, playing a crucial role in delivering dynamic, bespoke intellectual and financial capacity to our clients all around the world.
Our interns experience the full lifecycle of our business — from trading risk in the market and understanding the importance of claims through to winning new business. You’ll focus on developing client-management skills too and build relationships with a broad spectrum of people — including clients, our own industry specialists and members of the global insurance and reinsurance markets.
We’ll give you real responsibility early on, to ensure you gain a deep understanding of your potential future career path.
As an Aon Summer Intern, you will be enrolled onto our award-winning development programme. For 9 weeks you will have the opportunity to take part in a wide range of insightful and interactive training and development activities in addition to your role. Here are the key elements of our 9-week Internship development programme:
Our summer internship programme is designed as a potential first step towards a long-term career with us. Your performance during your internship may lead to an offer for a place on our graduate programme in the same business unit the following year. We encourage you to apply for an internship that aligns with your long-term interests and career ambitions. By choosing a role that matches your aspirations, you’ll be better positioned to take full advantage of our Launch development programme, which offers comprehensive support for your professional qualification, a level 4 Diploma in Insurance from the CII (Chartered Insurance Institute), and ongoing career growth.
If you are interested in this programme and would like to apply, here is some useful information:
Please be aware for future opportunities, including graduate roles, applicants must have their own right to work within the UK where you can maintain and demonstrate your right to work throughout the duration of your employment. We have opportunities this year in the following locations: London
We recognise the value for our Early Career colleagues of being in the office environment from the beginning of their programme. As a new intern, you will spend your 9 weeks in the Aon office or with clients.
If you join us as a graduate after your internship, you will spend the first 6 months based in the office to support your learning, development, and progression. This will enable you access to support from managers, collaborate with colleagues as well as grow your network across Aon. After completing this initial training period, you will then have the opportunity to work more flexibly, spending at least 3 to 4 days face to face in the Aon office or with clients.
We know applying for your first role can be exciting, and sometimes a little daunting. At Aon, we’re committed to making our recruitment process as transparent and supportive as possible. Here’s how our selection journey works, and what you can expect at each stage:
1. Application Review
