Job Summary
An equity research analyst is a professional who provides investment recommendations based on own analysis. You will identify stocks that are likely to outperform the market from detailed analysis of companies, industries and financial markets. You will evaluate associated risks and sustainability considerations as well. The ability to convey recommendations in a logical, clear and understandable manner is critical.
Key Responsibilities
• Equity research role, with primary responsibility for domestic sectors including retail. Sector coverage is mainly oriented toward large-cap companies. Specific coverage (stock and sector) responsibilities are subject to the candidate’s aptitude and experience and relative strength within our existing resources.
• Carry out equity research on your own initiative and generate investment ideas
• Make stock recommendations to Fund Managers based on this research
• Exchange information and ideas with Global Sector Specialists based in London for more in-depth research
• Analyse companies’ sustainability issues including environment, social and governance
• Contribute to portfolio construction and risk control
• Participate in marketing and client support activities as required
Qualification
• Working experience as a Buy-side or Sell-side Analyst. Research experience in retail and/or other domestic sectors is preferable.
• Strong commitment to equity research & stock picking
• Long term investment skills (rather than to short term tactical skills)
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Fluency in both Japanese and English (reading and writing)
• Advanced PC skills, particularly in Excel
• Ability to work effectively as a team player with respect for other team members
• CMA / CFA is preferable
