The AI Academia and Ecosystem Liaison will act as a strategic bridge between Standard Chartered’s AI research initiatives and the global academic, industry, and open-source communities. The role focuses on fostering high-impact collaborations, advancing innovation in AI and GenAI, and strengthening the bank’s visibility and influence across the international AI ecosystem. This position is ideal for an individual with a strong academic background, deep technical expertise, and the ability to translate cutting-edge research into business value and ecosystem partnerships.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and contribute to research initiatives in machine learning, generative AI, and their applications in finance.
- Represent Standard Chartered at global AI conferences and support academic partnerships and sponsorships.
- Contribute to idea generation, patents, and publication of research outputs in top-tier journals and conferences.
- Build and nurture collaborations with universities, startups, and technology vendors.
- Promote academic and AI-related research outcomes through internal and external communication channels.
- Drive engagement with open-source communities through advocacy, contributions, and thought leadership.
- Ensure all collaborations comply with Responsible AI and Ethics guidelines.
- Follow the Bank’s third-party risk management and conduct frameworks.
Skills and Experience
- Strong background in AI, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, and Generative AI.
- Proficiency in Python, data engineering, and AI experimentation.
- Proven record of research publications, patents, or applied AI projects (e.g., NLP, synthetic data).
- Certifications in Deep Learning or Machine Learning are highly desirable.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, including public speaking and cross-cultural collaboration.
- Strategic mindset and ability to translate research into business impact.
- Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building skills.
- Entrepreneurial and innovative approach to driving AI adoption.
- PhD or advanced degree in AI, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
