ASIC Hardware/Software Engineer Internship (Bristol)

‍

‍

About the Role:

We’re looking for brilliant engineering talent to join our ASIC team that is building next-generation, ultra-low-latency systems to power trading with machine learning and other algorithms on a global scale.

This is an opportunity to work on complex problems around networking, high performance computing, and real-time acceleration where we can't just use off-the-shelf hardware. May also include other duties as assigned or needed.

You’ll work alongside a small team of experienced engineers who came to Jump from leading companies in ASICs, FPGAs, semiconductors, networking cards, and more… as well as PhDs from top hardware research labs around the world.

Our small and talented team is responsible for the entire process from architecture and specification, through to design, test and bringing up of a final product on a board in production. We have achieved excellent results to date by hiring the best and focusing. We have seen proven success in a shorter time scale than is typical at larger tech firms. Enjoy the satisfaction that comes with seeing your work actively trading in one of the most technologically advanced fields anywhere.

About the company

Jump Trading

Company overview
Jump Trading is a proprietary trading firm focused on quantitative research, trading, and building low-latency systems and tools that support global market activity. Jump Trading hires across trading, quant research, AI/ML research, software engineering, and infrastructure roles that sit close to production systems. Jump Trading operates as a private company and recruits heavily through campus channels for internship and new-grad pipelines. Work is typically highly technical and performance-driven, with a culture that emphasizes ownership and fast learning.

Locations and presence

Jump Trading is headquartered in Chicago and lists additional offices across major global finance and tech hubs, including locations such as New York, London, Singapore, and others. Early-career roles are usually tied to specific offices, and campus recruiting often funnels into on-site interview loops in key hubs.

Palpable Score

77.6
/ 100
Jump Trading provides strong early-career access for technical candidates through recurring campus internships and new-grad hiring across quant, research, and engineering tracks. Learning support and pay are standout strengths, but hiring transparency is capped by demanding assessments and limited published expectations on timelines and feedback. Early-career outcomes look positive in sentiment and progression signals, yet Jump Trading does not publish cohort-level conversion, promotion, or retention metrics.
